Everyday Styling of a Sequined Dress

For new years, I found a great inexpensive sequined dress at Marshals that I could wear once and toss. I loved my night with that simple sheath and felt awful getting rid of it. Instead, I hung it in my closet where I figured it would stay until my sentimental feelings faded and I eventually donated it to good will.  last weekend I just happened to catch a glimpse of it staring at me as I headed out. It seemed to whisper "Hey, remember me, we had so much fun last time, I'd love to hang out again". Just like a girl crawling back to the boyfriend she broke up with again and again, I ran right back. I was struck with the question, what on earth would make this less New Years Eve?? I ended up wearing the second outfit below, loved it, and got a bunch compliments on my "skirt". I felt like I was fooling everyone by wearing this dress as a non dress and felt so proud of myself for recycling the look. With some simple creativity you can completely change the look of your holiday pieces too!
